克利夫兰小姐. — The Delta State University Office of 国际 Student Services held an orientation day on August 10 for international students coming to the school for the first time. 国际 students often face issues that do not affect other students, and the ISS staff helps them navigate their way through beginning college in a new country.

Coordinator of 国际 Student Services Missey 哈德逊说, “We want to make sure that they are acclimated to campus so that they are ready to begin their studies.”

During their orientation, the students were able to meet one another, the ISS staff and other members of the DSU family. 国际 students have documentation requirements that other students do not, and the ISS staff makes sure that they have all their paperwork in order to satisfy visa requirements. They also make sure that the students know their way around campus and are familiar with campus services.

哈德逊说, “New international students who are living in a dorm are offered the opportunity to pre-purchase a dorm linen kit. Because our international students often arrive late in the evening and are not able to bring these items from their home country it is good that they have this waiting for them in their dorm room.”

40 countries are represented in this year’s class of new international students, and 16 of these students are student-athletes who will represent the university as members of various DSU intercollegiate athletic teams.
